dc.description.abstractСтаття присвячена найраніше звеселеній частині посаду Новгород-Сіверського, що знаходилася в районі сучасної Успенської церкви. Метою роботи є визначення ролі території поселення в урочищі «Городок» в урбаністичних процесах міста Новгород-Сіверського у давньоруський час. Методологічна основа дослідження грунтується на перевірці попередніх інтерпретацій із залученням матеріалів останніх археологічних розвідок і розкопок. Наукова новизна дослідження полягає в тому, що низка матеріалів, опублікованих раніше, по різному інтерпретує систему посадів давньоруського міста Новгород-Сіверського. На сьогодні єдиної думки про приналежність досліджуваної території до посаду міста Новгород-Сіверського не існує. Зокрема точаться дискусії про період заселення ур. «Городок» та його роль в системі посадів міста. Висновки. Наявність культурного шару 10–11 ст. дозволяє стверджувати про заселення територій в 10–11 ст. Найбільш імовірно, що фактично одразу згадувана територія входить до єдиного організму Новгород-Сіверської агломерації, з часом стаючи частиною Окольного міста. Територія обноситься системою укріплень і стає частиною міста. Статус укріпленої частини міста територія зберігає до кінця існування міських укріплень.
dc.description.abstractThe article is devoted to the earliest populated part of the posad of Novhorod-Siverskyi, located in the area of the modern Assumption Church. The aim of the study is to determine the role of the settlement territory in the Horodok tract in the urban development processes of Novhorod-Siverskyi during the Ancient Rus’ period. The methodological basis of the research is grounded in the verification of previous interpretations through the use of materials from recent archaeological surveys and excavations. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that a number of previously published materials interpret the system of posads of the Ancient Rus’ city of Novhorod-Siverskyi differently. At present, there is no unified opinion regarding the affiliation of the studied territory to the city’s posad. In particular, discussions continue concerning the period of settlement of the Horodok tract and its role in the system of urban suburbs. Conclusions. The presence of a cultural layer dating to the 10th–11th centuries makes it possible to assert that the territory was inhabited during the 10th–11th centuries. Most probably, almost immediately this territory became part of the unified organism of the Novhorod-Siverskyi agglomeration, later turning into a part of the Outer Town (Okolnyi Horod). The territory was enclosed by a system of fortifications and became part of the city. It retained the status of a fortified urban district until the end of the existence of the city fortifications.
